‘Cautionary Tales’
I respect you regardless of if you choose to stay in or leave an unhealthy relationship. I just personally found statistics and other factual information helped me stop having faith in someone who was never going to put the work in to change his harmful behavior.
Some people aren't motivated by what is purposeful and fair. Not everyone cares. Some people are wired differently.. and others could get there with hard work (like cognitive behavioral therapy and anger management) but are too prideful to address their disordered ways of thinking. Some men choose pride over a bride.. Oh, and obviously some ladies choose to ‘win’ over men. ha
You may know your abuser needs love, but that doesn't mean they'll accept it or ever become whole enough to treat you right.. Depending on the severity of their mental hurdles, they may not want to. They may even enjoy hurting you.
Intentional or not, an abusive person is likely to remain abusive. Some are capable of growing and correcting their toxic behavior over time with intervention, but vast majority never do.
Many victims don't realize or want to believe how often abuse escalates. My last partner did not threaten me with physical harm, but I have been in that situation before. Even abuse that does not evolve to include physical violence can destroy lives. Abusive control alone inflicts so much suffering. No matter the circumstance, please be careful.

*** TRIGGER WARNING ***
The links below are to true crime videos involving domestic violence that resulted in murder.
These two cases stood out to me due to the manipulation, control, and lack of empathy from the perpetrators. Nobody deserves to endure what they put their partners through.

"Among homicides in the United States, intimate partners kill almost 50% of female and 10% of male victims. Intimate partner violence (IPV) also contributes to an estimated 6% of suicides." —source
